Power Ducting
Contractors prefer to use polyethylene electric cable ducting when installing cables via horizontal directional drilling (HDD) methods. The durability of polyethylene means its use as an HDD pipe is ideals – it can withstand harsh, rocky ground conditions whilst maintaining its structural integrity.
Polyethylene pipes are highly flexible, robust, and are ideally suited for HDD installations beneath natural and man-made obstacles like railway tracks, roads, and buildings.
PE100 ECD – ENA TS 12-24 C1+ for trenchless applications
Our PE100 Class 1+ product offers optimal performance with high tensile strength to withstand HDD installation techniques. Made from virgin PE100 polymer , performance is guaranteed and mitigates risk of failure under the high stress loads during installation.
Manufactured in accordance with BS EN 12201 and ENA TS 12-24. Suitable for a broad range of voltage applications, as determined by end-user specifications.
• 63mm to 630mm OD
• Black solid wall
• SDR11 C1+
• 6/ 12/ 13.5 metre sticks
• 50 or 100 metre coils (up to 180mm OD)
Applications: Trenchless, HDD (horizontal directional drilling), impact moling, ploughing
PE-HD – for non-trenchless applications
Our PE-HD product can offer a more price competitive alternative to virgin PE100 and is suitable only for general open trench applications. It remains capable of being fusion welded. PE-HD can be supplied in various wall thicknesses to suit the customers’ requirements.
Suitable for a broad range of voltage applications, as determined by the end-user specification.
• 90mm to 315mm OD
• Black solid wall
• SDR11/ 17.6/ 21
• 6 or 12 metre sticks
• Suitable for electrofusion and butt fusion jointing
Applications: Open cut, exposed trench
UNDERGROUND DUCTING COLOURS
Guidelines exist for ducting that include a recommended colour coding scheme for identification when carrying out remedial repairs, or additions to the network.
By colour-coding the ducting we create a safer and simpler working environment for groundworkers.
Unless stated otherwise duct is available in the following colours:
• Black (low/high voltage electric)
• Green (telecommunication, CCTV, cable TV, fibre)
• Purple (motorways communications)
• Grey (BT telecommunications)
• Red (low/high voltage electric – Scotland)
